چکیده
Abstract Congress passed US Farm Bills legalizing hemp (Cannabis sativa L.), after which hemp-farming increased, resulting in an abundance of by-products, like hempseed meal (HSM). As such, HSM must be evaluated as a potential animal feedstuff. A study was designed to evaluate the acceptability over time horses, using 6 stock-type geldings (11.5 ± 3.4yr, 539.6 31.9kg, BCS 6). Horses were offered 1 kg pellets two 5-min periods, h apart each day, and Coastal Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) hay between offerings. remained on commercial ration during 1-d feeding-pattern acclimation prior 6-d trial. Data (mean SEM) analyzed Repeated Measures ANOVA within R Statistical Program. One horse removed from due complete diet refusal. Intake d1 (0.287 0.081kg; P = 0.062), d2 (0.378 0.084kg; 0.07), d3 (0.446 0.087; 0.077) tended lower than d5 (0.695 0.071 kg). Similarly, (P 0.043), 0.036), 0.048) less d6 (0.652 0.064 Day 4 (0.530 0.09 kg) 0.09), but there no difference 0.73). Hay consumption greater (0.702 0.026kg; 0.003) (0.723 0.041kg; p 0.001) (0.410 0.051kg). intake not correlated (R2 0.001), proportions consumed feedings highly 0.947), increasing at 0.4 Feeding 1. These findings indicate that increases days exposure is impacted by consumption.

Variability in Antinutritional compounds in Hempseed meal of Italian and French varieties
The use of hempseed flours in the animal diets may be limited by the presence of antinutritive compounds. The content of phytic acid, condensed tannins, trypsin inhibitors, cyanogenic glycosides and saponins was evaluated in hempseed meal of three italian varieties (dioecious) and three french varieties (monoecious) of Cannabis sativa L. The analysis of variance showed significant differences a...
متن کاملEvaluation of Protein Concentration, Amino Acid Profile and Antinutritional Compounds in Hempseed Meal from Dioecious and Monoecious Varieties
Hempseed meal from three dioecious and three monoecious varieties has been evaluated for content and quality of the protein and for the concentration of antinutritional compounds. Hemp seeds were obtained from plants grown in two experimental fields for two consecutive years (2011-2012). For all the varieties, hempseed meal resulted in a rich source of protein (34% mean content) with an amino a...
متن کاملPerformance, egg quality, and blood plasma chemistry of laying hens fed hempseed and hempseed oil.
The aim of this study was to compare the performance of hens (feed intake, rate of lay, egg weight, and BW gain), egg quality and blood biochemistry (enzymes, electrolytes, proteins, and other plasma constituents) of laying hens fed diets containing hemp products. Forty-eight Lohmann LSL-Classic (white-egg layers; 19 wk of age) were individually caged and fed 1 of 6 wheat-barley-soybean-based d...
متن کاملEffect of meal schedules and fasting on selected plasma free amino acids in horses.
The effects of meal frequency and fasting on selected plasma free amino acids (PFAA) was studied in horses. Six 22-mo-old Quarter Horses were used in a replicated 3 X 3 Latin-square design in which each horse received one meal per day (1M), two meals per day (2M) or six meals per day (6M) for 2 wk. A complete pelleted ration was fed at a rate of 1.75% of body weight daily. The consumption of a ...
متن کاملPulsatile release of somatotropin related to meal feeding and somatotropin response to secretagogues in horses.
Our goal was to establish a time of day and(or) interval from feeding that would avoid the refractory period after a somatotropin (ST) surge and optimize the responsiveness of horses to ST secretagogues. Two experiments were conducted with eight geldings conditioned to consume grain at 0800 and 1600 daily. In Exp. 1, during a 24-h period, these geldings averaged 3.2 +/- .3 pulses of ST with pea...
